Madison Mélon

Assistant Public Defender

Madison is a lawyer with the Oklahoma County Public Defender’s Office. She started work there in 2015 after graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. She has been involved with diversion programs her entire legal career. She began in Mental Health Court and requested to be assigned to Drug Court in January 2016. She now supervises all diversion programs for the Public Defender’s Office. She loves watching the progress the participants make while in the program – meeting people in custody and then seeing them build a life in recovery is the best job perk there could be. She believes that Treatment Court is the answer to criminal justice reform.

She is married to a fellow public defender. They have a daughter who was born the week everything shut down for COVID. She enjoys reading, doing Barre3, and spending time with her family.
